Family health
Short, evidence-based notes for families. Start with Women 30+.
For every family member

Children
Child and adolescent myopia in China was 52.7 per 100 in the 2020 survey and 51.9 in 2022; from grade 1 to grade 6 it rose from about 13 to about 60 per 100.[1]

Adult chronic disease
Among Chinese adults, hypertension prevalence was 27.5 per 100, diabetes 11.9 and high cholesterol 8.2 (2015–19 surveillance).[2]

Elders
About 32 in 100 Chinese adults aged 65+ have osteoporosis — about 52 in 100 women and 11 in 100 men.[3]

Women's screening (China)
Ages 35–64: cervical cytology every 3 years or high-risk HPV every 5 years; breast screening at least every 2–3 years, ultrasound first.[4]

Women's screening (Japan)
Mammography from 40 every 2 years; cervical cytology from 20 every 2 years, or HPV-only from 30 every 5 years.[5]

Lung screening (China / US)
Both target high-risk adults 50+ with low-dose CT; China's 2024 plan advises against PET-CT or blood biomarkers for lung screening.[6]

Colorectal screening (US)
The USPSTF recommends screening at 45–49 (grade B) and 50–75 (grade A).[7]

Cancer burden (Japan)
In Japan about 1 in 2 people will develop cancer in their lifetime, and about 1 in 4 will die of it.[8]
Evidence-based intervals matter more than more tests.

FAQ
Are more tests always better?
No. For people without symptoms, CT, PET and tumour markers are not proven as cancer screening, and China's 2024 plan advises against PET-CT or blood biomarkers for lung screening. Choose validated tests by age and risk.
